Runes

Runes are "Unbalanced Bi-Elementals", that is, they are composed of a 25%-75% mix of two elements. Each rune is located between its two parent elements, but instead of being equidistant they are closer to the element that composes 75% of their substance. The Blank Rune is a special case. It is located in the center of the tetrahedron, in the hyperspace core. Also located in the hyperspace core are eight "hyper-runes".

In practice, this resulted in four left over runes. Currently these share spheres with the mono-elementals without it being too much of a poor fit.

The determination of the percentages of a given sphere is done by triangular graphing (actually by 3-dimensional "tetrahedral" graphing).

This attribution of the runes to elements is totally non-traditional. It was done on the basis of logic and intuition. No claims are made as to its effectiveness, and other mages are encouraged to experiment with their own attributions.

Spirit of Spirit: The Blank Rune. This is as good a definition as any of the Spirit of Spirit.
Energy of Spirit: Wunjo, Joy. The power driving spirit is Joy.
Pattern of Spirit: Teiwaz, the god Tyr. The pattern of spirit is Justice and Morality.
Motion of Spirit: Perth, chess or dice. The motion of spirit is Playing.
Result of Spirit: Gebo, Gift. The result of spirit is Giving.
Spirit of Fire: Uruz, the Ox. The spirit of Fire is Raw Strength.
Energy of Fire: Sowilo, the Sun. The power driving Fire is Pure Energy.
Pattern of Fire: Thursaz, a Thorn. The pattern of Fire is Piercing and Annoyance.
Motion of Fire: Dagaz, Day. The motion of fire is the daily motion of the sun across the sky.
Result of Fire: Cen, Torch. The result of fire is physical mundane Fire.
Spirit of Water: Jera, Harvest. The spirit of Water is idea of Fertility.
Energy of Water: Ingwaz, the god Ing. The power driving Water is the drive of Fertility.
Pattern of Water: Laguz, Water. The pattern of Water is that of physical mundane water.
Motion of Water: Othila, Home. The motion of water is the Home and the Nursery.
Result of Water: Berkanna, Bud. The result of water is Birth and Creation.
Spirit of Air: Ehwaz, the Horse. The spirit of Air is Motion.
Energy of Air: Raido, Riding. The power driving Air is Travel
Pattern of Air: Ihwaz, Yew tree. The Yew is the longest lived tree, but the fruit, bark, and leaves are poison. Therefore it is a symbol of both life and death, which is the axis the world moves around.
Motion of Air: Ansuz, Mouth. The motion of air is the Breath of Life.
Result of Air: Haglaz, Hail. The earthy part of air is Hail.
Spirit of Earth: Mannaz, Man. A Human being is a spirit inside a physical body.
Energy of Earth: Naudiz, Need. The power driving Earth is the desire for Material Gain.
Pattern of Earth: Isa, Ice. The pattern of Earth is frozen Stasis.
Motion of Earth: Algiz, Protection. The motion of earth is protecting material gain.
Result of Earth: Fehu, Wealth. The result of material gain is Wealth.
