STELLAR CARTOGRAPHY SECTION

The maps in this section are cartesian x-y-z graphs in galactic co-ordinates. The x-y plane is the plane of the galaxy, and the positive x axis points at the galactic core. All units are in parsecs (there are 3.26 light years in one parsec). Maps are based on data from the Gliese Near Star catalogue v. 3.0.
Note: the original boarders of the various human empires fit within a 10 parsec sphere. As new empires were added, the sphere had to be expanded to 15 parsecs.

STAR LISTS
Here is the current master list of which star belongs to which empire. Please note that this list is going to change radically in the near future, as several empires need to have stars assigned to them. And here is a list of stars named in various "canon" scenarios that have to be assigned to real stars.

MAPS
Map 1 (m15.gif): This is a raw map of all the stars within 15 parsecs of the sun. ( "Raw" means "without labels for the various star nations" ) Lines are drawn between each star and its closest neighbor. Stars are colored according to their spectral class. In the case of biniaries, the color used is that of the brightest member. Class M stars are greyed out, as they generally do not possess human habitable planets (though they often have valuable mineral deposits, domed colonies, terraformed planets, and/or asteroid habitats) Note how the plethora of M stars make the map difficult to use. There are also many places where star names and co-ords overlap, the author apologizes, this will be fixed when he has a chance.
Here is the text file containing the data used to make this map.
Map 2 (m15nom.gif): This is a raw map of all stars within 15 parsecs of the sun, excluding stars of spectral class M. Lines are drawn between each star and its closest neighbor. Stars are colored according to their spectral class. In the case of biniaries, the color used is that of the brightest member.
Here is the text file containing the data used to make this map.
Map 3 (noM103d.gif): This is a raw map of all stars within 10 parsecs, excluding M stars. It is a set of stereo pairs, viewable in 3-D by using the "cross-eyed" method. This will give a feel as to the arrangement of stars in local space.

Astropolitical maps will follow shortly. Watch this space.
